JEAN NATE
Jean is a beautiful two year old
female Border Collie.
Jean Nate now has a shiny coat - put on plenty of weight now and is
enjoying the home life. She Really loves just laying on the
couch with you cuddled up. She loves to sleep in bed with us. She is
now enjoying walks outdoors and will enjoy them more as time goes on and
her confidence level .
She is fully house trained and is allowed access to the entire
house. She is still very shy around people she does not know, but is as
loving as can be to her family.
She is great with cats and other dogs and will play with them on a one
on one basis. She would do best in a home with no more than one other
dog and older children as she is afraid of little ones.
She is beautiful on the inside as the outside and is looking for
forever home to love her and work with her to be the confident
Border Collie within.
To look at her now, it is difficult to imagine that came to us bone thin, caked in feces and
covered with sores with the characteristics of a dog that was
in a cage a lot - like a puppy mill. Jean came to us not
just in poor physical shape but also with a set of teeth in need of
extensive Veterinary care which have been treated.
Her story: She, along with four other
Border Collies came to us via a Border Collie rescue orchestrated by the
Humane Society of America. You can read more about how she came to
us at: Border Collie
Rescue.
She spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, wormed.
She is on flea prevention and heartworm preventative.
The adoption fee is $225.
The adoption fee includes: registration of the AVID micro chip in
the new owner's name and a Lupine brand harness and leash. Lupine
has a life time guarantee; if chewed, the company will replace it free
of charge.

Paddy
Paddy is a great little guy! He entered our program October
2009 with several other Peke's. When we took him in to be neutered
we learned that he would need surgery to correct damage done from what
we can only assume was the result of being hit by a car. That
surgery has been done and Paddy is now ready to be adopted!
Paddy does great with dogs and cats and adores human companionship -- he
especially likes human laps, human beds and well, you get the picture.
Paddy is a mostly white with some black male Pekingese weighing in at
pounds. He does have a bad rear leg that he doesn't put much weight one
He is up-to-date on shots, wormed and neutered. He is on Frontline
Plus for flea and tick prevention as well as Interceptor for
heartworm preventative. He is micro chipped. The adoption
fee is $250.
The adoption fee includes: registration of the AVID micro chip in
the new owner's name and a Lupine brand harness and leash. Lupine
has a life time guarantee; if chewed, the company will replace it free
of charge.

MONTY
Monty enjoys the New Year 2010!
Monty is a BIG BOY!
And it's all that more to love, be amused by and enjoy.
Monty is good with other dogs and has been fine with adult cats - we
don't know about puppies, kittens or children just do to his large size.
Monty loves to play in the yard .. especially with this large red ball.
He has been great in his crate but he really doesn't like it. And
he is housetrained.
Monty has developed a couple habits that his new owners will need to
continue to re-direct, one is jumping up when he sees you and he is just
too big for that. He pulls when we take him for walks but a
no-pull harness works like a charm.
He is obviously a Rottweiler mix, we suspect lab too. Monty is
between a year and two years old -- judging from his teeth and activity
level, we would say close to 18 months of age.
A large fenced in yard would be best.
He is neutered, up to date on all of his shots, wormed and micro
chipped. He is on Frontline plus. His test for heartworm was
negative and he is on Interceptor.
The adoption fee is $225.
The adoption fee includes: registration of the AVID micro chip in the new
owners and a Lupine Brand collar and leash. Lupine has a life time
guarantee, if chewed the company will replace it free of charge.

Indiana
Indiana looks like a Flat Coated Retriever mix with an
exceptional good nature.
She has that personality where everyone she meets is instantly her
friend, as if she has known them forever and they are on her Christmas
Gift List!
It was her sweet nature that convinced a PetsConnect volunteer to bring
her into our program
She is about a year old, housetrained, great with dogs and
cats and we suspect children too.
Indiana came to us with puppies. They are: Bert, Juniper, Tinker,
Sam and Donavan.
Her Story: Indiana came to us just before Christmas Day along with her
puppies! Indiana
was rescued by the South Bend Animal Care and Control employees from
an abandoned home where she and her puppies were left to simply starve
to death. Indiana may have made it one or two more days but that
would have been it. Gazing upon her brings tears to even the most
hard hearted soul. Not just her ribs stick out, but her hip bones,
her collar bones protrude.
Prior to adoption she will be spayed. She was tested for heartworm
and it was negative, she is micro chipped and up to date
on her shots.
The adoption fee includes:
registration of the AVID micro chip in the new owner's name and a
Lupine brand harness and leash. Lupine has a life time
guarantee; if chewed, the company will replace it free of charge.

Bert, Juniper, Tinker
Sam and Donavan
Bert and Juniper are black. Juniper's hair is looking like it
may be long and she is starting to look more and more like her mom.
Tinker and Sam are brown. It's hard to see in the photos, but they
are really pretty.
And then Donavan - the odd puppy out so to speak! He is tan and a
rascal.
They are all rascals. They enjoy all the things puppies enjoy:
toys that go squeak, toys that another sibling has, little rawhides,
sleeping in puppy piles or curled up on human laps and tasty human toes!
Prior to adoption each pup will be neutered/spayed, micro chipped
and have had at least two sets of puppy shots or more depending on how
old they are when adopted.
The adoption fee is $250 per puppy.
The adoption fee includes:
registration of the AVID micro chip in the new owner's name and a
Lupine brand harness and leash. Lupine has a life time

Molly
Molly is a sweet, good-natured 2 year old Norwich terrier mix.
What kind of terrier, you ask? Well, your guess is as good as
ours! She’s small, about 15 pounds or so, and has wirery hair
around her face and neck. The rest of her fur is pretty soft.
We’ll just call her a mystery mix. That’s the best kind, after
all!
Molly is housetrained and very well-behaved in the house.
She likes other dogs and does well with cats.
Molly does have some quirks, likely due to her unknown past.
She is shy with men at first and may even growl a bit. Given
some time (and treats), she warms up, though.
Molly LOVES the ladies! She’s very people-oriented. If you’re looking
for a best bud and cuddle partner, she’s your gal. She likes to
be where you are and will curl up nearby.
She is not crate trained and sleeps in her dog bed (or the human
bed if you’ll let her—she’s a good foot warmer) at night. She
would do best with a human who isn’t gone long hours during the
day. She loves to play with balls and take her daily walks.
Molly is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, and on flea
and heartworm preventatives. Her adoption fee is $225. The fee
includes registration of the microchip in your name and a Lupine
brand collar and leash. Lupine is guaranteed for life. If
chewed, the company replaces it for free!

Monk
Monk is a cute Norwich Terrier mix puppy. He is three
months old. He and his sisters, Moselle and Mona Lisa are
Molly's pups. Monk looks identical to his mom.
Monk loves to play with other puppies, grab the cat tails as the
cats jump out of his puppy pen, curl up in our lap, give kisses,
chew rawhides, play with toys and race around the room.
Monk is neutered, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, and on flea
and heartworm preventatives. Her adoption fee is $250. The fee
includes registration of the microchip in your name and a Lupine
brand collar and leash. Lupine is guaranteed for life. If
chewed, the company replaces it for free! |
|
Moselle
Moselle is a small, exceptionally sweet, Norwich Terrier mix
puppy. She is three months old. Moselle and her
siblings, Monk and Mona Lisa are Molly's pups.
Moselle is the smallest and the most affectionate. She is
determined to give us kisses on our face! She snuggles and
cuddles but also races around with the other puppies too.
Moselle, like all puppies enjoys her toys, rawhides and puppy
piling.
Moselle is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, and on flea
and heartworm preventatives. Her adoption fee is $250. The fee
includes registration of the microchip in your name and a Lupine
brand collar and leash. Lupine is guaranteed for life. If
chewed, the company replaces it for free! |

Mona Lisa
Mona Lisa is black with tan and white markings. She is a
three month old Norwich Terrier mix puppy. Mona Lisa and her
siblings, Monk and Moselle are Molly's pups.
Mona enjoys curling up in our laps as well as racing about the
room. She is sweet as can be. She doesn't have as
much of the wiry hair like her mom and siblings.
Mona Lisa is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, and on flea
and heartworm preventatives. Her adoption fee is $250. The fee
includes registration of the microchip in your name and a Lupine
brand collar and leash. Lupine is guaranteed for life. If
chewed, the company replaces it for free! |

Katie Lynn
Special Needs
Check out this awesome dog!
Super tall, with big hound ears and a howl to match, it would almost
seem like Katie is a Shepherd and Blood Hound mix. Of course, we
don't know what she is mixed with but she sure is one of a kind!
Katie is approximately two years old, housetrained and has been
reasonably good considering.....her ears are severely infected and
causing her a lot of pain. She is on medications but it takes a
bit to heal.
She is spayed, is up to date on all of her shots and micro chipped.
She is on Heartworm prevention, and Frontline plus.
Katie is special needs because of her ears which need to be cleaned out
weekly and watched closely for infections. She also has a few
quirky behaviors such as counter surfing, insisting that every stuffed
toy be emptied of it's contents and 'screaming' at the cats when they
take her toys. However, the cats still insist on sleeping with her
and annoying her so her 'screaming' is terribly ineffective.
The adoption fee is $150.
The adoption fee includes: registration of the AVID micro chip in the
new owners and a Lupine Brand collar and leash. Lupine has a life
time guarantee, if chewed the company will replace it free of charge.

B.D. Jones
Has An Adoption Pending
What is Big, Blond all over and has a toy in
his mouth?
A Yellow Labrador Retriever of course!
Meet B. D. Jones, an adolescent male. He is actually an incredibly
handsome dog, but big and doesn't have the best manners in the world.
He adores playing with Monty! He just wants to go out into the
yard and play and play and play some more.
B. D. Jones does retrieve and while not all that bright, he is eager to
please and will learn quick. Treats - yes, treats, he will work
for them! And toys and balls and well, he is just one big puppy.
B.D. Jones will do best with owners willing to invest in a dog obedience
class or two. He will excel with training and is sure to be a
great family companion or perhaps someone who would like to have some
fun experiencing fun sports with dogs: Companion Dog, or Agility or
Rally Obedience? There are so many choices!
A fenced in yard would be ideal. If there are children in the
family, a fenced in yard is mandatory. Small children would not be
a good idea as he may knock them down. He needs to settle down a
bit.

Willy Wonka
Willy Wonka is one neat
looking guy with an outstanding personality to match too. He is a
four year old Beagle and terrier mix: he has the coloring of the beagle,
the stand up tail, but then he has this unusual curly wiry hair and his
legs remind me of the fawn in the Chronicles of Narnia. He is
great with other dogs, cats and is perfectly housetrained. He is
rather easy to care for but does like to be by your side. He is
not crate trained. During the night he sleeps either at the end of
our bed or on the doggy bed on the floor. When we leave he is
loose but he only has access to the dining room and kitchen. He
does bark but not much.
Wonka was an owner surrender to a local animal shelter. Right now
his ears are a disaster and our vet says to expect four to six weeks of
intensive care to get them cleared up. He doesn't act like his
ears hurt at all but the vet says they have been infected so long that
there may be some damage. So, he is on several medications to
clear them up. Truly, you would never know his ears were that bad
... we were so surprised. Willy Wonka is just a great dog and will
make someone really happy.
Willy Wonka is up-to-date on shots, wormed, micro chipped and neutered. He is currently on Frontline plus for flea prevention.
The adoption fee is $225. The adoption fee includes:
registration of the AVID micro chip in the new owner's name and a
Lupine brand harness and leash. Lupine has a life time
guarantee; if chewed, the company will replace it free of charge.

Hailey &
TinkerBell
Tinkerbell is the darker looking pup. Both are very small.
Hailey has been spayed and Tinkerbell is scheduled to be spayed.
Tinkerbell was the runt but she caught up with her siblings!
Both pups are up to date on shots, have been wormed and are micro
chipped. They are good with dogs and cats but don't let their pint
size fool you for they can be pretty darn rough when playing.
Watch out for your toes!
We have had Hailey and Tinkerbell since they were just four weeks old.
They came with a litter of four pups, their two siblings have been
adopted. Originally, Tinkerbell was in a foster home by herself because
she was so small, she weighed four ounces when we got her. But now
Hailey and Tinkerbell now share a foster home and they are the same
size!
The adoption fee is $350. The adoption fee includes:
registration of the AVID micro chip in the new owner's name and a Lupine
brand harness and leash. Lupine has a life time guarantee; if
chewed, the company will replace it free of charge.

Cricket
Cricket has come a long way since entering our program back in
September. She is now more secure and healthy.
A pretty girl, Cricket is a Black and White well marked Border Collie
with a long coat. The scars she arrived with , from what may be dog fights or trying to get out
of a cage, are no longer noticeable. See how wonderful she looks
in this photo taken January 27th, 2010?
She is up-to-date on shots, wormed and spayed.
She is on flea prevention and heartworm preventative.
She is micro chipped. The adoption fee is $225.

Godiva
Godiva is a ten month old great looking Chocolate lab. She
is sweet, good with other dogs and has been fine with the cat.
Godiva is housetrained but her manners in the house still need some
work. For example, if she smells something on the counter she will
try to get it if we aren't there to tell her no.
Godiva loves, of course, to fetch. Godiva is a small lab weighing
in at 54 pounds.
Godiva is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, and on flea
and heartworm preventatives. Her adoption fee is $250. The fee
includes registration of the microchip in your name and a Lupine

Bess came to us with a puppies.
Bess is housetrained, good with dogs and cats.

her and snuggling is one of her favorite activities. She will do
anything for a treat .. including snagging any within her reach when you
are not looking.
Bess is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, and on flea

Rook
Has Been Adopted
Rook is a soft all black lab mix puppy.
Rook is one of a litter of five puppies, they are black lab mixes, the
emphasis on mix since she and her siblings are small for lab puppies.
They may be Border collie or terrier or who knows mixes. Rook is
one of three females, the other two are males.
The puppies love to go outside and play in the snow. They tussle
and tumble and chew on any grass stubbles or small branches they can
find which aren't many as we have a lot of snow!
The pups are getting the hang of going outside to go potty but I would
not venture to hint that they are housetrained.
The pups are great, of course, with other dogs and cats. They will
make nice family pets. Fenced yards would be desired and no
children under 6 years of age.
New owners should be prepared to invest in rawhides, Bitter Apple to
spray on furniture to stop the chewing, lots of time to train including
housetraining, and dog obedience classes when the puppies are six months
of age.
She is scheduled to be spayed, is micro chipped and is up to date on her shots.
The adoption fee is $250. The adoption fee includes:
registration of the AVID micro chip in the new owner's name and a
Lupine brand harness and leash. Lupine has a life time

Wendy

What is Peter Pan if there is no Wendy? So, meet Wendy, a
charming puppy in her own right!
Like her siblings Wendy is a rich, beautiful black puppy.
Sweet natured this pup enjoys, as you can see, the Kuranda bed.
Actually all five of the pups love to pile up on that little
Kuranda bed!

Peter Pan
Has Been Adopted
Pan is the only pup in his litter to have a white stripe! And
that striped is right down his chest. Other than that he is all black.
He is the largest of his litter and his hair seems longer.
Like his siblings he is sweet. He is the first one out the door
and the last one to come back inside. He was the first one to
master the steps too. Some of that is his size.
Peter Pan, or Pan for short, is one of a litter of five puppies,
they are black lab mixes, the emphasis on mix since he and his siblings
are small for lab puppies. They may be Border collie or terrier or
who knows mixes. Pan is one of two males, the other three are
females.

Quincy
Has An Adoption Pending
Quincy is a handsome adolescent puppy. He appears to be a
German Shepherd and lab mix and will be large when full grown.
Quincy does well with cats and dogs and is working hard on
housetraining.
As he ages he is clearly becoming a dominant dog
and would do best with a family with some dog savvy. Quincy
responds quickly and always to verbal commands. He is eager to
please his owner, a fast learner and treat motivated making this dog a
great candidate for lots of different dog competitions.
He is a sweet
natured, easy going pup. He is also very affectionate and he is a
watch dog with a developing deep bark.
Quincy is up-to-date on shots, wormed, micro chipped and neutered.
He is currently on Frontline Plus for flea prevention and Interceptor
for heartworm preventative.

Jack
Has Been Adopted
Jack is a six month old Jack Russell Terrier. Sweet natured, likes
to hop in our lap and offer kisses. He is a really nice dog.
He enjoys playing with the other dogs and has been fine with the cat
though I suspect he is quite capable of chasing a cat. He is
housetrained but still needs to be watched a bit. He get's cold
easily when it's cold outside.
Interested adopters will want to read up on the breed. They are an
amazingly smart breed, great with children but also have a lot of

Minnie
Has An Adoption Pending
There is so much to say about Minnie who truly deserves a home to call
her own.
Minnie landed in a local shelter back in early Spring, and this
obviously after she had been used for breeding purposes. Shelter
employees did everything to get her adopted: they took her to special
events, they told people how wonderful she was, but alas, she sat in the
kennel and watched while the dogs around her were all adopted. In
fact, PetsConnect! volunteers first met her at the Spring Fling at the
Elkhart Farmers Market! We were rather taken with her and said we
would be happy to have her join our program. But at that time
several families had put in to adopt her .. but not one came through!
You know, it's hard when you are older, and your body shows the effects
of having had a couple litters of puppies and your just a big ole black
dog.
Minnie can have some attitude too .. not with people, she loves people.
But with some other dogs. She can be dominant with some dogs but
she is now getting along with everyone!
Minnie would do great in a home to call her own .. a special home that
is full of love and treats and a soft cushy bed. She is an easy to
care for, low energy gal.
Minnie is a four and half year old female Black Labrador Retriever.
She is spayed, up to date on all of her shots, wormed and micro chipped.
She is on Frontline plus.
The adoption fee is $150.
The adoption fee includes: registration of the AVID micro chip in the new
owners and a Lupine Brand collar and leash. Lupine has a life time
guarantee, if chewed the company will replace it free of charge.

Starlette
Has An Adoption Pending
5/14/09 Update: it turns
out that Star had stones, the vets removed two large kidney stones and
are running tests to see how well her liver is functioning. Our
hope is that special diet will take care of this but we do not know yet.
6/8/09: the stone analysis has come back and it
appears diet will control the situation! This is good news.
Star is back at the vet today for two more tests and then we will know
for sure how her liver is functioning.

Our little Star shines brightly bringing joy to those around her.
She is small, weighing in at 10 pounds full grown, and she may be two or
three years old. She has the look of a Miniature Schnauzer - sort
of. We don't know what she is but we do know she is incredibly
cute. She is white, gray and black and she has two different kinds
of hair, the soft kind and the wiry kind.
Starlette does well with dogs and cats. She is housetrained but may
have accidents at first. Star loves to be held and carried and
will jump into your arms. She truly is adorable.
Starlette is spayed, up-to-date on shots, microchipped, and her heartworm
test was negative. She is on Frontline Plus for flea prevention
and Interceptor for heartworm preventative.
The adoption fee is $250.
. The adoption fee includes: registration of the AVID micro
chip in the new owner's name and a Lupine brand harness and leash.
Lupine has a life time guarantee; if chewed, the company will replace it
free of charge
